Ketsamone Thanoulith Project 4: Makercase Lamp

Concept: I took inspiration from outer space. I experimented with different engravings, cuts, and hatching. I also engraved some song lyrics from "Fly Me To The Moon" by Bart Howard. This design would probably be for a space-themed bedroom.

Process: I used a four-sided rectangular Makercase without a top. I used curves and shapes in Rhino to design the astronaut and rocket ship. I added inner cuts, medium and shallow engravings, and some rasterizing and hatching to add various shapes. I also used some font for the song lyrics. I made inner cuts mainly for stars and other glowing elements.

I created the model using PlanarSrf and ExtrudeSrf. I assembled it in Rhino and imported the light bulb to be used in the final render in Keyshot. I also created a lining for the inside of the lampshade. When I assemble the lamp I'd eventually add paper inside.

Materials: Birch or oak wood would work best. For the render, I added frosted glass inside. A natural look is best and paint is optional.
