Bailey McCalla MakerCase Lamp

 Inspiration:

For my makercase lamp I wanted to base the design off of a Chinese lamp since I have always been a fan of their designs, I used the Feng Shui symbols for prosperity, longevity, happiness and good luck as the main focus for my design and basing the rest of my inner cuts off of Chinese window patterns.

Process:

For the beginning of my process I traced each symbol and pattern using the polyline tool. Once I had completed that I then extruded all of my walls and used the planar surface command to close the surfaces. I then placed my polyline sketch against each wall and used the makehole command and doing so created a perfect hole of my sketch into the walls. This had the unfortunate effect of destroying one of the surfaces of my wall but this was easily remedied by simply duplicating the wall which had the holes and and using that duplicate to close off the surface and then grouping them together.

Material:

For my Keyshot render I used the wood material for all of my walls, the glass material for my lightbulb and the plastic material for my wire. I choose a black wood material as it is the material I used for the laser cutting process which was 1/8th mdf. The reason for the dark color is that I believe that it would contrast really well with the bright light illuminating in a dark environment
