Cicely Miller: Midterm: Flashlight Sleeve

When I think of a flashlight, I think of an object that releases light.  I wanted my sleeve to compliment my flashlight so I decided to create a lighthouse design.  A lighthouse is a structure designed to produce light from a system of lamps and lenses to help sailors navigate waterways.

While creating this sleeve for my LED flashlight, I used various techniques such as Boolean difference, array polar (360) and curve Boolean.  First, I created a flat curve where I joined curves and eliminated unwanted curves.  Next, I added the circular and square holes that penetrated completely through the figure by creating multiple copies by using the array polar command.  Then, I referenced the center point of the figure, added the number of duplicates and accepted the update by pressing enter.

I used various materials in Keyshot to bring my design to life.  Some of the materials used were wood, plastic, metal and glass.  I was also very strategic in the choice of my color since I wanted the sleeve to resemble a lighthouse.
