Michael Bradley: Week 7 Slots

For this project I chose to create an array of Imperial logos, again from Star Wars.  I wanted to use a geometric shape for this assignment, and after exploring several options, I found my final choice the most usable.

Refrence

I began by using a vector of the logo which I converted to the proper format for use in Rhino.  Then, I retraced the vector using curves and created slots that would fit within the design but be the proper thickness.  As I am writing this I am wondering if I made a mistake and re-sized the logo after I had already created the slots, thereby making the final slots the improper thickness.  I double checked and believe the slots will be fine, but I may have indeed re-sized the final shape very slightly to make it better fit within the 24x48 sheet.

The final slots ended up being .13 inches wide, which actually allowed the thin cardboard to fit better without breaking my shapes.  Even with this slight adjustment, the sculpture held together very nicely without glue.
