Hadi Zadeh - Assignment 5 Gravity Gun

For this project I wanted to continue with Half Life theme. So I searched for an outstanding element from this series and I thought I can 3D-print the gravity gun. In Half Life 2, with this gun the player can interact with the environment based on physique laws. Grab objects, shoot them around... . Gravity gun gained a huge popularity among half life fans and became an icon for this series.

I Did most of the modeling part in 3DsMax. Basically this was a polygonal modeling and I used tools that are available for this type of modeling in 3DsMax. Basic shapes, extrude, bevel, ... . I should mention that I made some changes in this model to make it fit and suitable for 3D printing. The first major change is that I removed the bracket parts at the end of the gun. Those were really thin in width and long in lenght and I thought it could cause problems for printing. The other changes I made were the all thin and narrow parts in the gun model that I replaced them with thicker parts.

I used metal and glass for rendering this piece. I basically tried to use colors close to the original gun. The main core of the gun is orange. and the other parts are shades of gray.
