The engraving portrays two people having trouble communicating with each other, the zig-zags resembling the loss of meaning in translation from thoughts to speech. Then on the flip side is hands reaching for one another, showing how even though they have trouble between each other they still keep trying to connect.
I sketched out the idea in my sketchbook and scanned in the page then converted the drawing to a vector format so it will be loss less data. After I used box maker for a 2 x 6 x 3" box and pasted the vector file.
The material used is MDF 1/4", it's sturdy enough for a box and not too bulky
