I wanted to create a simple, clean design in Illustrator that I could raster engrave onto my skateboard deck. I chose to depict a hummingbird because I wanted to use some type of bird and felt that a hummingbird would work well with the floral lines and shapes I was using.
Techniques
I used Illustrator to create and format my design. I began with an image of a hummingbird, which I used as a template as I drew and positioned the shapes using the pen tool. I then filled each shape with black so that they would be engraved at a single depth.
