Concept

Wanting to make something simple, I want to create something that round and many holes for the light to shine through. When thinking, two thing came to mind was a fireball from Mario, when he throw balls of fire, and the Atomic Fireball candies.

Process
Using rhino with modeling the shape from a sphere and flatten the top. Using F10 to move the points around and using a circle curve plus MakeHole tool and cut out a hole in the middle of the sphere. Using grasshopper, using a script to make the cut out of each of the parts of the lamp. Normally, I would have used laser cutting out the pieces for a faster time. However, at the time I wasn't able to fit the wooden broad in my car. So, using a jigsaw, scroll saw, and a bend sanding to create my lamp. The base is old nightlight that was missing the top, so decided that it work all for my lamp.
