King Wang Wong: Week 11- Polyhedron

Concept:

My creation is a Szilassi toroidal polyhedron, discovered by Lajos Szilassi in 1977. Toroidal means it is "shaped" like a donut in which it has a hole through it. It has seven hexagonal faces that all touch one another. It proves the Seven Color Theorem that says a toroidal polyhedron needs a minimum of seven colors so no two adjacent faces have the same face. 



Process:

I used a net found online here, which also contained instructions on how to assemble the polyhedron. I traced the net in Adobe Illustrator since the picture was not formatted to be edited. I then transferred the net to Rhino




Materials:

The completed model is made of laser cut cardboard.
