This post has all content for Assignment 6, Architectonic Lamp
See all updates below the fold!

Thinking about the other laser-cut projects, I wanted to explore other ways to establish a volume than just the outermost contours.

I started looking at natural sources that fit the bill:

Definitely interesting shapes, but nothing that really inspires for a lamp.

until...

Bingo!  To Maya!  I started playing with possible shapes and configurations, including a design based around a long, thin bulb I found.

The final design is a compromise between the tall and wide versions, and adds petals.

Once cut and assembled, the final product can be displayed in a couple of different ways - either in a low "pond" position, or on a table or floor stand.
