Chris Jordan: Project 6 Waffle Lamp

When I was looking for lamp inspiration I found that I was drawn to the work of Isamu Noguchi from the 50's they were simple and clean in form as well as in function.

This lamp idea I simply took a sphere surface and manipulated the the control points of the sphere to create a number of blobs , this is the current selection that I am contemplating on making (it has a tube to allow the insertion of the make a lampkit)

This idea i took to the direction of depicting the cartoonist representation of a bee hive complete with a verity of holes in which the bees may enter and leave the hive

After lofting a series of curves together I made this object turning the original Noguchi lamp into a less angler more curvaceous object

Lamp Idea #1 was too problematic in the waffle creation phase so #2&3 have been waffled and split

due to sheet constrants #3 is the winner

For the materials an ash wood material was used on the verticals and a mahogany was used on the horizontals to give it the sense of a piece of furnature

Here are photos of the lamp in a built state that is on and off.
