Devon Youngbird- Week 3: Mouse

Concept: The concept for the mouse was for a sleek and overall (actual) mouse looking design. Though it's a computer mouse, the addition of a headlight shaping at the front gives the impression of actual mouse eyes as well. The buttons stick out a little to emphasize the idea of ears and the ball could be seen as the brain. These pieces could also just be parts of the computer mouse.

Technique: This model heavily relied on curves to get the shape. Boolean difference was used to do the cut outs for the buttons. I filleted the edges to smooth out the transition between edges. I think I will need more practice with curves going forward. They're extremely useful, but a challenge at the moment to conquer. Boolean difference is a lot of fun to use.

Material: This model consists of a plastic, glass, and painted metal material. This is to stick to the theme of a computer mouse feel. The contrast of metal vs. the plastic buttons look nice and also helps sell the idea of the buttons being ears for the mouse. Material applying is more of a happy accident practice, followed by tweaking to have the proper lighting in the scene for them.
